Tony Burke MP – Keep the Unity. Make some Noise. Music and Government

In the Music Real E54, Nicki has the honour of speaking with Tony Burke MP who is one of the greatest supporters of the Australian Music industry. In Federal Parliament in April, Tony moved a motion that called for a “specific, tailored, fiscal response package to ensure [the] ongoing viability” of the arts and entertainment sector. That motion was voted down. And when you realise that the Bureau of Communications and Arts Research (BCAR) has released analysis showing cultural and creative activity contributed $111.7 billion to Australia’s economy in 2016-17, there is a clear disconnect between the Federal Government and the real Music Industry. Tony issued a call to action – sign Petition EN1609 – Support for Australian Arts and Entertainment Workers now. Its time to #makesomenoise. A big thank you to Tony for taking the time to talk to The Music Real. https://themusicreal.com.au/2020/06/24/tony-burke-mp-keep-the-unity-make-some-noise-music-and-government/
