After writing, recording, producing your song, it is now time for you to share it with the public. T
Get Organised:
Set yourself up in a Google Calendar to keep yourself on track.
Set up a Google Drive for all your assets.
Create a Google Spreadsheet to track all activity
Make sure you have all the apps on your phone
Set your Goals. Things like:
· Build a fanbase on Social Media
· Play live
· Tour
· Create a newsletter for your fans
· Be interviewed by Industry Magazines
· Get Airplay
· Increase Streams
· Increase Fan Engagement on Social Media
· Get added to Feature Playlists
There is no point in setting goals unless you have a way to achieve and track them. Set SMART goals to ensure a ROI.
· Specific – what is the number?
· Measurable – how will you track it?
· Attainable – how will you make it happen?
· Relevant – will this goal help you to achieve your end vision?
· Time Bound – when?
Set your Budget
It’s not about the size of the budget. It’s how that spend brings you closer to achieving your goals. Do what you can in house. Allocate budget to services that you yourself cannot provide. Eg Targeted Ads recoup a greater return than allocating that same budget on a graphic artist. Learn to use platforms like postermywall.com and canva.com to reduce your cost and manage more of your marketing in house.
Track Everything
From your Pre Save to Release to Bio to Ticket Links to your Merch, track everything that you post to give you metrics on engagement. Those metrics will help you to redefine your marketing spend in your next release. So track everything – website, socials, Link Tree. There are many apps and platforms available.
Define Channels and Tactics for each:
Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, You Tube, Google, Email Marketing – from your metrics, you will know which channel has the best engagement for which medium and strategy. You will know when, what, how, who and where to post competitions, rewards, subscription offers, early birds, teasers, last minute sales and any of your release elements.
The Drop Strategy
From the Pre Save to the teaser to the trailer to the premiere – strategize to create demand and interest for each new song drop. It is after all the hero of the entire release campaign.
Celebrate the Release in Style
It’s the reason for everything so get creative in the celebration. Live launch event at a local venue. Live streaming event on line in a studio somewhere. A surprise last minute pop up party amongst a friendly and happy crowd of friendlies. Or ……not limited to your imagination. Go Nuts! (And keep it relevant to your budget, goals and vision)
The Buzz Step
Keep the buzz going after each release to continue to build momentum for the eventual release of your album. This is where your big picture brand strategy and long term marketing plan takes shape.
